  WHAT HAPPENED?

  Rooney was a pundit as the BBC covered Crystal Palace's historic win over Manchester City at Wembley. During half-time, Micah Richards asked about how Oliver Glasner would prepare his Eagles team for the second half, given that they were 1-0 up.

  THE BIGGER PICTURE

  Eberechi Eze's strike proved decisive, and Palace were able to see the victory out in the second half. Rooney, of course, has been out of work since losing his job at Plymouth Argyle in December, and Lineker drew attention to his dire record both with the Pilgrims, who were bottom of the Championship at the time of his sacking, and with Birmingham City, who were relegated after his reign.

  Richards asked Rooney if he would change the way he plays if he were heading into half-time 1-0 up.

  And Lineker quickly interjected, saying: "His teams were never 1-0 up!"

  Rooney, Richards, and Glenn Murray, in the studio, were left in hysterics.
